How A Pineapple Can Relieve You From Cough Faster Than A Cough Syrup

Whenever my grandma suffered from a coughing spree, I used to rush to the nearest medical store and buy a cough syrup. She takes a spoonful of it, and within minutes she is relieved of the pain.

Everything is fine. Until the cough strikes back.

This has been happening, like, since ages. Whatever signs of withdrawal the cough shows, they are just temporary.

What can be done? I thought.

What Is Cough, Basically?

Before you laugh at this seemingly naive question, just hold on and ask yourself. What do you think cough is? Why do you cough?

You have got no answers, right?

Let me help you. Coughing is nothing but an automatic response from your body to bring out the mucus from your throat and lungs. And the purpose of cough syrups and tonics is to loosen this mucus and smoothen your throat at the same time.

The problem with most cough syrups is that they are synthetic and come packaged with a host of side effects.

What Makes Pineapple The Anti-Cough Crusader?

Pineapple is a storehouse of many essential nutrients. And one of these is an enzyme called ‘Bromelain’, which helps fight inflammation, reduces infection and kills bacteria. It is also known to cure asthmatic cough.

Pineapple juice is as effective as the fruit itself. It can suppress coughs five times more efficiently than any cough syrup.

Basically there are eight different types of coughs. And any one of these can be easily cured with pineapple juice instead of cough syrup. The upside is pineapple juice doesn’t contain toxic chemicals, isn’t synthetic, is less expensive and can also help fight a cold.

Does Pineapple Contain Anything Else?

Of course. Why not?

Pineapple is a rich source of vitamin C, an antioxidant that replenishes the immune system. Potassium is another nutrient present in abundance in pineapple. Potassium helps maintain nerves, muscles and blood pressure.

Manganese and fibre are the other rich constituents of pineapple. These two minerals contribute to bone and tissue health and development.

What Else?

In 2010, a study was published in Der Pharma Chemica which highlighted the ability of pineapple juice to dissolve the mucus in the lungs. Pineapple juice given along with required doses of pepper, salt and honey has been found to cleanse the throat and give considerable relief to tuberculosis patients.

In an another study patients were found to recover about five times faster from cough, inflammation and other respiratory ailments.

Okay. You Told Me Everything About Pineapple. But Where Is The Recipe?

Yep. That is where I am coming, my friend.

Cough is a trivial ailment, but our lack of knowledge forces us to magnify the issue. We panic, rush to the nearest pharmacy, and even go to the doctor for checkups and tests. I don’t mean to say you shouldn’t do all that. You should, because modern technology is what cures dangerous illnesses.

Watch my words. ‘Dangerous’ illnesses; like pneumonia, tuberculosis or anything similar. But otherwise, common cough can be very well treated from the comfort of your homes.

The recipe is quite simple.

Required Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ½ tablespoon of raw ginger
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Preparation:

All you got to do is combine all the ingredients and mix them well in a blender or a tumbler.

Dosage:

¼ cup of the pineapple syrup 2-3 times a day.

As modern medical technology is expanding over the boundaries of the universe, we are forgetting what we have in the tiny kitchen shelves of our homes.

Oh yes, modern medical technology is what cures dangerous illnesses; but traditional medicine is what prevents them.

Let’s change our mindset, for better health, and a better world.
